Phone numbers are more than one number but this allows one number to be entered. Need improvement.

Didn't you ment only this: (^(\+?\-? *[0-9]+)([,0-9 ]*)([0-9 ])*$)
The |(^ *$) gives the possibility of number made by spaces only...
